Will Bengaluru hotels and restaurants shut from Tuesday as commercial LPG supply crisis deepens?

Hotels and restaurants in Bengaluru may begin shutting down from Tuesday after a sudden disruption in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders. The warning was issued by the Bangalore Hotels Association, which said many restaurants did not receive their regular gas supply on Monday. Commercial kitchens across the city depend heavily on 19-kg LPG cylinders for daily cooking. With supplies unexpectedly stopping, restaurant owners say they may struggle to continue operations if the situation does not improve soon.

A video circulating on social media appears to show an Iranian naval vessel exploding at sea, reportedly after being hit during a United States military strike. The footage was shared by several defence-tracking accounts online and is said to show the incident near Bandar Lengeh in the Persian Gulf. According to reports, the ship seen in the video is believed to be a Shahid Soleimani-class missile corvette operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN).

LPG refill booking period extended to 25 days to prevent hoarding amid West Asia tensions

The government has extended the gap between LPG cylinder bookings from 21 days to 25 days. The Petroleum Ministry clarified that this change ensures that domestic households get a fair and timely supply of LPG. Officials noted that some consumers had been booking cylinders much earlier than allowed, creating the risk of shortages in certain areas. “Domestic consumers will always be a priority,” government sources cited by various media reports said.
