After losing back-to-back matches on the first day of the Davis Cup 2026 qualifiers round 2, India gears up for doubles action. The United States has approved a possible sale of 48 F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia in a major defence deal estimated at $24.3 billion. The US Department of State announced the approval on Thursday (local time), allowing the proposed Foreign Military Sale to move forward. The package includes 48 F-35 aircraft equipped for conventional takeoff and landing, along with 49 Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 engines. Of these, 48 engines will be installed on the aircraft, while one will be supplied as a spare.

A Texas-based US military F-16 fighter jet crashed on Thursday during a training mission in Michigan in the US, however, the pilot was able to eject, the unit to which the aircraft belonged said. “A Texas Air National Guard F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 149th Fighter Wing…crashed during a routine training mission” near Traverse City, the unit said in a statement on its Facebook page.
