The Indian space agency, ISRO, is getting ready for another big mission, which is set to take place on January 12. The PSLV-C62/EOS-N1 mission is set for the day at 10:17 AM IST from the First Launch Pad at Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre. This will be the ninth dedicated commercial launch for NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), which just keeps strengthening India’s reputation as a dependable launch partner around the world.

NASA, one of the leading names in the space world, has decided to delay a spacewalk which was scheduled for today (Thursday, January 8, 2026) after spotting a medical issue with one of the astronauts on Wednesday afternoon (January 7). Due to the same, they hit pause, putting crew safety first.

ISRO is gearing up for its first launch of the new year, with the PSLV-C62 mission scheduled to lift off on January 12 from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. According to an ISRO official, the mission’s primary payload is the EOS-N1, an imaging satellite developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for strategic purposes.

In a significant milestone for Indian space science, ISRO’s first indigenous dust detector has successfully detected interplanetary dust particles (IDP). These particles are described by the space agency as “a cosmic invader striking every thousand seconds” on Earth.

Astronomers have spent years trying to figure out how galaxies form and grow, but the James Webb Space Telescope just threw them a curveball. It found a galaxy called Virgil—though most people now call it “Jekyll and Hyde”.  Why? Because this galaxy has two faces – at first glance, Virgil looks pretty normal. It’s quietly making new stars, nothing flashy. But dig a little deeper—thanks to JWST’s sharp eyes—and you find something wild hiding in all that dust: a supermassive black hole blasting out energy, totally hidden from older telescopes.
